2 Kings 4:2 (NKJV), “So Elisha said to her, ‘What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?’ And she said, ‘Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.’”

Those who commit to hear and obey God, He commits to bless. In 2 Kings we read about a widow who was about to lose her sons to slavery to pay off the debt her late husband had accumulated. When Elisha, the prophet, heard about her plight, he instructed her to search out what she already had of value in her house. He wanted her to understand that no matter how insignificant the object of value seemed, when she placed it before the Lord and obeyed His instructions, His miracle of provision would flow and every need she had would be met. After paying close attention to the prophet’s instructions to collect all the jars she could find and pour out the oil she had into them - she willingly obeyed and found the oil kept flowing until the very last jar had been filled. The Bible records that from the oil she sold, she had enough money to pay off all the debt and still have money for her and her household to live on. That day the widow learnt about the gateway to the supernatural provision of God. She was to pay close attention to God’s instructions and obey them. As she took what she already had and poured it out in faith, the miracle of provision was activated. Proverbs 14:23 says, “Work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty!” The woman committed to the instructions which released the blessing and the oil to flow. The same way it was done for her, it can be done for us. When we take of what the Lord has already given us, and willingly place it in His hands, He promises to bless what we give Him, with supernatural increase, so that every need we have will be met. Not according to our standard of blessing, but according to the standard of His riches in glory! (Philippians 4:19). Take full advantage of God’s gateway to blessing - and walk in the provision He has already provided for you.
