Immediate Obedience

Numbers 13:30 (NLT), “But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. ‘Let’s go at once to take the land,’ he said. ‘We can certainly conquer it!’”

When we surrender to God’s plan for our lives, we’re not only saying, “Yes” to all the blessings contained in that plan, we’re saying, “Yes” to facing the challenges we will encounter along the way too. When we know we are walking in obedience to God’s instructions, we can be confident that no matter what trial we come across - He will always lead us to triumph. As long as we keep His Word in our hearts and continually allow the flow of His Spirit into our lives, when we face opposition, we will think like He thinks, speak like He speaks, and respond in a way He would respond. When Moses brought the Israelites to their Promised land, two spies - Joshua and Caleb - chose to place the promise of God above the opposition they saw. They perceived what others feared, through the filter of faith. They wanted to waste no time pondering the odds they had against them, because they knew the longer they prolonged their obedience - the more they would be convinced to doubt and draw back from what God had promised them. Caleb and Joshua’s report was different from the other 10 spies in that it only contained what God had promised and none of the problems that seemed to disqualify them from possessing the land. If we are going to have our faith work for us - we cannot afford to let the devil talk us out of our obedience to the Lord. Faith only focuses on what God’s Word has promised, nothing less and nothing else. When we only dwell on what God has promised and only allow what He says to come out of our mouths, we build a solid foundation of truth that faith can operate from. Don’t allow negative, doubt filled words to dig up your foundation of faith. Always say, “Yes” to the promises of God and only speak His Words when you are faced with challenges. Your immediate obedience will lead you straight into experiencing the manifest reality of His promises.
