Forsake Wrong Thoughts!

Matthew 6:25 (KJV), “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, …”

Did you know that keeping our thoughts dominated by our problems, keeps us in a place of unease?  It may seem like the responsible thing to do, but in reality, once we've found God’s Word on the situation and have rolled it onto Him in the prayer of faith, with thanksgiving - we are to refuse the care of that thing from plaguing our minds.  The AMPC version of Matthew 6:25 says, “Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life…” Anxiety and worry are closely associated with unbelief and fear, all of them are enemies to the character of God.  Whatever we choose to place our focus, on increases in our lives until every thought, word, attitude, and action is influenced by it.  Isaiah 55:7 tells the unrighteous man to forsake his thoughts and return to the Lord.  Now, we know that we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, however that isn’t always the case when it comes to our thought life is it?  While my spirit-man is completely righteous, my thoughts - left unchecked - can be contrary or in direct opposition to God’s thoughts.  The truth is our circumstances will never change while we are thinking against God and not in agreement with Him.  Praise God, we have His thoughts in His Word. We also have the Holy Spirit alive and at work inside us - ready to come beside us and help us shift from a place of worry and defeat into peace, joy and victory!  When troublesome thoughts begin to weigh you down - stop what you are doing and remind yourself that you have the mind of Christ! Then immediately roll that care onto the Lord and trust the Holy Spirit to lead you to the place in God’s Word that speaks hope and life into the situation that’s got you so troubled.  Meditate on that Word, speak it over what you are facing, pray in the Holy Spirit over it and very soon you will begin to feel that heavy weight lift right off of you.  In its place will be perfect peace and hope.  Then, every time a worrisome thought enters your mind over that situation - do what 2 Corinthians 5 instructs us to do: Capture every rebellious thought and teach it to obey Christ! (NLT).  Learn to forsake every wrong thought - it’s the only way to live in perpetual victory!
