1 Timothy 4:1(NKJV), “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,”
We are living in the last days of the Church Age. This means we can expect Jesus, our Redeemer, to gather us together in the clouds and take us to be with Him, and never separated from Him forever! (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18). We know this day is about to take place because Jesus, gave us specific signs to look out for. Signs that would warn us to be ready for His coming. One of those signs are what the Bible calls the great apostasy. This is where people will be teaching false doctrines in the church, deceiving many. Verse 2 of 1 Timothy 4 says they will be, “speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,”. What will these doctrines be? Well for one thing we know they will be opposite to the foundational doctrines Jesus taught us to keep and teach. Truth that teaches there is only one God, and salvation is only found through His Son Jesus Christ. That Jesus is the only way to the Father, and eternal life cannot be received by any other means. The truth that forgiveness of sin comes through accepting the finished work of the cross, and that a life in Jesus means loving Him and obeying His Word. The Bible teaches that when we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour, we give up our own rights and surrender to live full of, and controlled by His Holy Spirit! We have been bought with a price and now we belong to Him! Hallelujah! What a wonderful exchange! Our hopeless, sinful existence gone, so we can live as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus - enjoying the fullness of His abundant life flowing in and through us to reach others for His glorious kingdom! The Bible warns us to be vigilant in these last days and to remain in the truth of God’s Word so that we will not be caught off guard and swept away in false doctrine. Make every effort to cultivate your intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit and remain rooted in God’s Word so you will be anchored in truth and found ready at His coming!
