Reflecting the glory of God

The cross reference for the 'veil' referred to here is 2 Corinthians 3:13, where Paul reminds us of how after being in the Presence of the Lord, Moses had to wear a veil to conceal the glory shining on his face from the people. They would be terrified of it. That's because their minds had grown hard and calloused toward God. Paul said their minds had become dull and had lost the power of understanding. In other words, if they were to see the glory that shone on the face of Moses, instead of embracing the Word he brought to them, with the understanding of God's love for them, and His longing to reveal Himself to them so they could know Him more intimately, their hardened hearts would misinterpret His intension. They would see it as a reminder to be terrified of God. That shining glory would only enhance their feelings of unworthiness and deepen their belief of needing to keep a safe distance from Him. Paul urges us to see that because of Jesus, our relationship with the Word of God is completely the opposite. Now, we can confidently open our hearts and minds to His Word, and fully take in and gaze upon the glory it reflects. That veil separating us from seeing and embracing the glory of God and experiencing its transforming power in our lives is gone. Because of the redeeming blood of Jesus, we are made righteous and when we look intently into His Word, by His Holy Spirit, it reflects the mirror image of Who God really is, and His unconditional, unfailing love for us. Now we can wholeheartedly embrace His Word, accept His love, and allow the Spirit of God to transform us into the very reflection we see. When we embrace its transforming truth, our own lives begin to reflect the glory and goodness of God. Choose to see God in His Word and yield to its transforming power today.
