My Body Broken for You

Did you know you can invoke the blessing of God through partaking of communion? It's true, this is not just a traditional memorial, it's a deliberate act of obedience to keep us in remembrance of the powerful, legal agreement and covenant we have in Christ Jesus. That's why Jesus said we must partake of communion often, to remember what His broken body and shed blood has done for us, so we can live our new life of victory in Him. In 2 Kings 4, from verse 38, there is a story of a pot of porridge being made for Elisha and some men. By mistake, a poisonous herb was put into the pot, making the porridge inedible. They cried out to Elisha saying there was death in the pot! Then in verse 41, Elisha said, "Bring meal [as a symbol of God's healing power]. And he cast it into the pot and said, Pour it out for the people that they may eat. Then there was no harm in the pot.". The meal, representing bread, absorbed the poison or death that was in that porridge. The Bible tells us that Jesus was wounded and bruised and broken so that we could be whole and healed. Just as that bread or meal, represented God's healing power for Elisha and the men, the bread we partake of in communion, represents the healing power we receive from the broken body of Jesus. Isaiah 53:5 says, "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.". Through the finished work of the cross, all death is absorbed from us, and we are made alive and whole in Christ Jesus. Each time you partake of communion, do it by faith, knowing the healing power of God has made your body whole.
