A Covenant God

Jacob grew up being part of the lineage of 'The Faith Patriarchs'. We can assume that during his childhood, he was constantly reminded that the God of his grandfather, Abraham, and his father, Isaac, was One who abundantly provided for His covenant children. In this passage, after God appeared and introduced Himself to Jacob, giving him a spectacular vision of angels moving up and down a ladder between heaven and earth; Jacob chooses to personally accept Him as his God. When Jacob declared that the Lord, referring to the Name Yahweh, will be His God, he made a vow, as long as he was alive, to bring Him a tenth of all he would receive from His hand. Jacob understood that it was his turn to see the God of His fathers' become his provider. The covenant established with Abraham, and Isaac, had now fallen on himself. The moment we understand that very same covenant of supernatural provision is ours, through Jesus (Galatians 3:29), we will see God as our ultimate source of provision. Like the Father's of Faith, we honour God with our tithe, as a sign of our covenant connection. Then, by faith, we sow financial seed into His kingdom, understanding that it contains the substance of what we have faith to believe for. Our Covenant God, is a Good Father and has pledged to be our provider and protector. As we honour Him by faith, with our tithes and offerings, we can celebrate being a vital part of the lineage of faith.
