A slave is one whose will is completely swallowed up in the will of another. Before we knew Christ as our Saviour, the Bible says we were slaves to sin. We were enslaved to live according to its destructive nature, bound to its will for eternity. But Jesus was willing to lay His life down in the most horrid and cruel death, to pay for our freedom. With His own life blood, He redeemed us. Now we are able to live according to the kingdom of God, which is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. As we embrace, with all our hearts, this new freedom we have in Christ, and follow after His nature which He placed within us, we will remain living in the freedom and grace He so generously and willingly paid for us to live in.
